  2. Fabulous work of art! Some of the most imaginative minds were at their best during the middle of last century. Not surprising as that was an era of tremendous scientific developments with new horizons opening in the field. The whole humanity was in awe of ongoing developments in space technology.

Thanks to all responsible for bringing up this post.

  4. @praveen I feel that TOI had done mistake. If they printed these instead of King's version, Flash Gordon could be more popular in India.

  5. @TPH It’s other side of 2nd world war. The development started with new enthusiasm. The impact of science fictions is very surprising – many concepts coined by the writers, are giving directions to scientists.

  6. @Gaurav Arya Since I read Dan's strips, Flash Gordon is leader among my favorite heroes. Since childhood this position was occupied by the Phantom. Alas, I could read Flash Gordon strips by Mac Raboy in childhood…

  7. Yes, Prabhat,I fully agree with you.
IJC had published not the very best of Flash.
It also didn't publish any story informing the origin of Flash---- the first episode in which Flash, Zarkov and Dale happen to meet each other----that means -- no introduction was given by IJC .
Many of the Flash by IJC had oblique panels with really bad drawing------ etc..--

  8. @Praveen: Yes,It's exactly the same for Mandrake too!Because of we never had the stories from the earliest era,we had no idea in those days about their origins!:(
Saying this,ToI did publish that re-told version of 'Flash's origin' on 1989 - ironically was the 2nd last Ijc issue of FG - in V26 N23('Scheming despot' or so) which was only part-1 of the 5-part mega origin saga(D2-135 to D2-140)! Unfortunately, soon after that issue ToI cancelled the most heroes(retained only 4)from V26 N33 onwards and all Ijc fans missed a chance to read that saga in full!! [I was very much surprised to read that part, where it has been mentioned that "This was the very 1st meeting of Flash,Dale & Jarkov",after seeing them in numerous adventures! :o)]
