Only 4 Phantom comics were printed in Russian in 1992-93. I was planning to scan, but found all 4 (c2c, each 30+ MB) files yesterday.

Phantom in Russian! Incredible!!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to believe that they actually published Phantom in Russian. The character always stands to protect American interests and how it manged to get published in Russian at the height of cold war, intrigues me.
No doubt a great find. Though I can't read it but it's nice to have a look at pictures.
@The Phantom Head (TPH) #1 was published in 1992 an rest 3 in 1993. It was a era just after USSR.

Actually before 1990 the books were very popular, but the comics not.
Until today, I was not able to buy any comics in the 3rd important city (where I live)...... (:
But, if any publisher will launch (relaunch) in a planed way now, the Phantom, Mandrake, Flash Gordon, Asterix, Tintin, Superman, Batman, Spider-man, even our ACK in Russian - these will pick the market soon.
