The Phantom, the first costumed hero, made his debut on Feb. 17, 1936 in daily strips.
Creator: Lee Falk (April 28, 1911 – March 13, 1999): Well know as the creator of "Mandrake the Magician" (1934–2013) and "The Phantom" (1936–present).
Falk was able to successfully combine themes from epic poetry, fairy tales, and stories of chivalry. The Phantom is the most widely-read superhero comic strip in the world is being printed in more than 500 newspapers in 40 countries.
The Phantom has enjoyed more than 60 years of continuous comics publication in Australia (Frew) and Scandinavia (Egmont)
Australia is among top 2 countries where the Phantom is loved the most. These two giveaway (210mm x 295mm) comics are the first Australian-created Phantom stories, since they predated Frew's first Phantom story Rumble in the Jungle (951A) by about two years.
