#259. Tarzan - Mitabu Nakab Ka Dhap (Hindi)

One of the most popular comics character 'Tarzan', was created by Edgar Rice Burroughs in 1911. First appeared in the novel 'Tarzan of the Apes'. which was published in 1912. The very same book was adapted as first Tarzan comics strip in early 1929.

Like the Phantom, Tarzan also lives in the jungles of Africa. Sadly, both never meet in any comics.

This time read : Tarzan #34 (Hindi)

Sadly, both never meet in any comics.

in fact, in one of the later day phantom stories, it is implied that edgar saw phantom and got inspired to write tarzan, now hows that for imagination?

  3. Meet or no meet, Lee Falk himself had admitted that he envisioned Phantom over the Tarzan character, which was then famous in Novels. Arguably, two greatest Jungle heroes ever :)

Thanks for the Kiran Tarzan version, Prabhat. Any idea how many issues did Kiran Comics, run ? I have some odd number issues, and there is no much information on the source so far. Good to see you have taken this series next up over here :)

  6. Thanks Prabhat again for a good comic. I have read it in English. Like Rafiq mentioned I have read that Tarzan was an inspiration for Phantom. But both are legends of their own. One of my favorites - another one was Conan The Barbarian.

  7. Old Man Mozz, Conan is my personal favorite too. Especially, the ones which had the incredible John Buscema's artwork filled in pages. Gotham Comics, when was in power in India, distribued nearly 20+ editions before calling it quits.

The Omen was that once Conan was stopped, Gotham was never the same again. You can't forget the sword wielding warrior, and expect to escape out of the wrath of Chrome. Isn't it ? :)

  8. @ Old Man Mozz/Rafiq Raja : You are lucky guys. I saw film Arnold Schwarzenegger's Conan the Barbarian (1982) & Conan the Destroyer (1984) only.

Was unaware about such comics, I must search these comics.
