#031.Korak - Son of Tarzan (1-45) (Gold Key)

Korak is the ape name of Jack Clayton, the son of Tarzan and Jane.
Jack first appeared in the original Tarzan novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs. He was introduced as an infant in the non-Tarzan novel The Eternal Lover (later retitled The Eternal Savage), in which the Ape Man and his family played supporting roles. His next appearance (still as an infant) was in The Beasts of Tarzan, the third Tarzan novel, in which he was kidnapped and taken to Africa. The story of his youth and growth to manhood was told in the fourth novel, The Son of Tarzan, in which he returned to Africa and lived in the jungle, taking for the first time the name Korak ("Killer" in the language of the Great Apes). Most references to him were as "Korak the Killer."
Half of the book relates to Meriem, the Arab girl he rescues from a beating. The two of then run wild in the forest for years before being separated. After many adventures they are re-united and eventually marry. The story of the boy's sadness at losing her and her emerging character is conveyed very vividly.
Korak was later used as a supporting character in the eighth through the tenth entries in the series, Tarzan the Terrible, Tarzan and the Golden Lion, and Tarzan and the Ant Men.

  2. It's an impressive collection all right... but isn't it like putting the cart before the horse? You haven't posted any Tarzan comics yet, I think. It would be great to have the Gold Key Tarzan series (and some of the Dark Horse Specials), since they are not easily downloadable anywhere.

  5. alain: Welcome friend. Since this Monday I’ll be busier but at least 1 post a week will come. As I like to quickly share with friends, generally these will be multi comics’ posts.

tapas: As friends asked to post Korak, I changed my plan to post Tarzan first. I will post all Tarzan after this series.

krishna: If it is possible to post quickly, why not. In fact this post and next three already uploaded last week. I had few free days. Next three coming posts are scheduled to post with interval of 3 days. Since 50th post, as you requested, create and will create zip link in every multi comics post as this one.

  13. It's also worth to note that the Gold Key covers were particularly beautiful and presented with great care in these years ... (often best than the following King comic-books/see for example the Phantom issues...). How I regret to have lost a large part of those comic-books with the time’s passing ...

  14. alain: It's really very sad news you also lost the major part of your favorites, but it is life friend, show most go on.

  15. Hey!!! Thanks a lot for the Korak comics. I had read a few which were published by Kiran Comics in India. But, I don't think I have read any of these.

By the way, if you have any tarzan comics, it would be great if you would post them too.
