Classics Illustrated Comics (1-169)

Classics Illustrated is a comic book series featuring adaptations of literary classics such as Moby Dick, Hamlet, and The Iliad. Created by Albert Kanter, the series began publication in 1941 and finished its first run in 1971, producing 169 issues.

  2. I think we must do something for all the trouble you all take ( all posters and scanners etc). any ideas anyone? Mere lip thanks is not enough.
    also can you disable the word verification? its such a pain- every time we have to enter that too.

  10. great! just downloaded this great comic. I have one query. are we in any danger of being shut by any copy right owner? i hope not - but then we need to have a mirror site to back up all these? has any one thought about this?

  11. krishna: I also hope not, but I will open a new blog or not for public, I can't say about it at present. If yes, I will obviously remove the objected posts. In my opinion ecomics & ebooks encourage to buy it. I'm personally again started collection of my favorite books & comics.
    I keep back up of all these post for myself.

    I was searching for this long forgotten classic novels in comic book format.and finally stumbled upon it.I had my hands on to some of the classic illustration issues and i yearned for more in those days (when i was in 8th or 7th grade.12 years back to be precise).It was an emotional fulfillment.thank you again for revoking the experiences i had, enjoying these books in those days.

  17. yeah i am lucky.i read almost all tin tin and Astrix series and its good to find the series in your blog i have not gone through it but sure i will. it will be hard to point any particular illustrated classics.as i find many of them in your list already .and i have read only 3 or 4 of them frankenstien is what i am reading now.Post Shakespeare if you have it in illustrated classics.hamlet is one of my favorite .i would like more of Shakespeare.
    And friend one more thing i am a great fan of Archie comics.please post Archie comic series if possible.

  31. You'd never know how happy I am by stumbling with your blog. I have been looking for these classics for 20 years now (since reading them when I was about 10 years old). My grandmother used to have a collection of these works but because of neglect, natural decomposition of paper, flooding and dirt (in her basement) - all of them were damaged and destroyed. Now with technology I'm glad that I could read comics with my iPad through a comic reader. I could never thank you enough for sharing these graphic novels. Now I can also share them to my children. Thank you so much.
