Flash Gordon & Phil Corrigan

Another unique contribution by Ajnaabi.

He says, "An interesting find of a newspaper strips where SECRET AGENT CORRIGAN & FLASH GORDON appeared in the same story. The original scans were very tiny. I hope that the Original scanner won't mind me for enlarging & increasing the dpi a bit of those pages. Thanks a lot to Unknown Uploader for this strip.

  2. Never knew that Flash Gordon & Phil Corrigan did appear in a same strip. Should have been a join collaboration of the artists who worked on both strips....

Thanks for finding this unknown piece, both to Ajnaabi & Prabhat for sharing.

  5. Hello, I have just discovered your blog. You are doing a wonderful job here, sharing these comics with people across the world. Characters like Flash Gordon, The Phantom, Mandrake and Secret Agent X-9/Corrigan are much more popular internationally than they are in America, their country of origin. While some of the earliest ones have been reprinted in America in book form, many more later ones have not, especially my favorites: Sy Barry's Phantom, Dan Barry & Bob Fujitani's Flash Gordon, and Fred Fredericks' Mandrake from the 1960s to 1980s.

I was especially interested to find this crossover of Secret Agent X-9 in Flash Gordon. Do you know of others? I have heard that Mandrake sometimes appeared in The Phantom, and the other way around. Did Flash Gordon ever appear together with The Phantom? Perhaps only a cameo appearance in the comics, as I have heard happened in the 1980s when Phantom, Flash Gordon, Mandrake and Lothar all appeared together in the television cartoon series Defenders of the Earth. Do you know where I can find complete lists of the stories from Flash Gordon, Phantom, Mandrake, Secret Agent X-9/Corrigan?

In the last 2 years, Hermes Press in America has begun to reprint all Phantom (4 daily volumes so far) and Buck Rogers (6 daily volumes plus 2 Sunday volumes so far) in nice hardcover books, also the COMPLETE reprinting of American comic book Phantom stories (3 volumes so far). Dark Horse Comics also reprinted all Mac Raboy Sunday Flash Gordons and COMPLETE (5 volumes) American Flash Gordon comic book series. Alex Raymond's complete Sunday Flash Gordon has been reprinted in book form twice already, and now Titan Books has started reprinting them a third time, this time including the Jungle Jim topper strips. IDW is reprinting books of Secret Agent X-9/Corrigan, but only the Archie Goodwin & Al Williamson strips, not from the very beginning. Sadly very few Tarzan newspaper comic strips have been reprinted. NBM did a series of Hal Foster Tarzan books 20 years ago which I missed (all out of print now).

Sorry to ramble on so much. THANK YOU again to all your contributors!

  6. I checked recently the website of the Seattle PI newspaper and they still have Flash Gordon comics available to read and recently they re-introduced Secret Agent X-9 on the October 28 2012 strip.
